Tour overview

The coast, the Red City & the Sahara

If you’re staying in Agadir and want to see the real Morocco, this private seven-day loop brings together its three great landscapes. You begin along the Atlantic to Essaouira, the breezy blue-and-white port town, then cross the plains to Marrakech for a guided day among its palaces, gardens and souks.

From Marrakech the road climbs over the High Atlas on the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, through the Valley of Roses to the Dades and Todra gorges, and on to Merzouga, where you spend two nights among the dunes of Erg Chebbi — with camel treks, a 4x4 desert day, nomad families and Gnawa music.

The return leg crosses Alnif, N’Kob and the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate, then heads back to the coast through Taznakht and Taroudant. Accommodation, pace and activities can all be tailored to your budget, from charming riads to luxury desert camps.

Good to know

Questions about this tour

Can’t find your answer? Message us on WhatsApp and a local expert will reply quickly.

Can this tour end in Marrakech instead of Agadir?

Yes. From Ouarzazate it is a short drive over the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Marrakech, so we can finish there on day seven. We can also reverse the loop and visit the desert first.

How long are the driving days?

Most days involve 3 to 7 hours of driving with plenty of stops for photos, walks and visits. The longest day is Marrakech to the Dades Gorges, broken up by Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate.

What is the desert camp like?

You stay two nights in a camp among the dunes of Erg Chebbi, in a private tent with proper beds and bedding, with dinner served at the camp. Luxury tents with private bathrooms are available as an upgrade.

Can I choose my accommodation level?

Absolutely. The tour can be arranged with charming riads and standard camps, or upgraded to boutique hotels and luxury desert camps — just tell us your budget when you enquire.

Is this tour suitable for families and older travellers?

Yes. The tour is private, so the pace is set around you, with as many stops as you need. The camel ride is short and gentle, and a 4x4 transfer to camp can be arranged instead.

What is the best time of year for this tour?

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are ideal. Winter is mild on the coast and sunny in the desert, with cold nights; summer suits the coast but the Sahara is very hot in the middle of the day.
