Your journey begins in Casablanca before heading north through Rabat to Chefchaouen. Instead of arriving and leaving immediately, you'll have a complete day to enjoy the Blue City at a slower pace — exploring its medina, mountain setting and viewpoints.
From the Rif Mountains, travel south through the Roman ruins of Volubilis and imperial Meknes to Fes. A local guide introduces you to the medieval medina, traditional workshops and historic monuments before the journey turns toward the Middle Atlas.
Cedar forests, mountain towns and the Ziz Valley lead to the Sahara. In Merzouga, ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes, watch the sunset and spend the night at a desert camp. A second day allows you to go beyond the dunes and discover Khamlia, desert communities and the wider Merzouga landscape.
The southern route continues through Rissani, Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley before reaching Ouarzazate and Aït Ben Haddou. Cross the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, then finish the journey beside the Atlantic in relaxed Essaouira before returning to Casablanca.

Welcome to Morocco
Your private Morocco journey begins in Casablanca. We meet you at Mohammed V International Airport or your accommodation and plan the first day's sightseeing around your arrival time.
Visit the Hassan II Mosque, one of Casablanca's most impressive landmarks, dramatically positioned beside the Atlantic Ocean. Depending on your schedule, continue through central Casablanca, see Mohammed V Square and enjoy time along the Corniche.
The first day remains intentionally relaxed so you can recover from your flight and settle into Morocco before beginning the longer journey the following morning.
Rabat and the Road to the Rif Mountains
After breakfast, leave Casablanca and travel north to Rabat, Morocco's current capital and one of its four imperial cities.
Explore the city's major landmarks, including Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Kasbah of the Oudayas. The kasbah's blue-and-white streets lead toward views over the Bouregreg River and Atlantic Ocean.
After lunch, continue north through Ouazzane and the green landscapes leading toward the Rif Mountains. Arrive in Chefchaouen in the late afternoon and settle into your riad.
A Full Day in Morocco's Blue City
Today is dedicated to Chefchaouen, giving you time to experience the city without packing and moving on immediately.
Explore the old medina with its blue-painted houses, narrow lanes, small squares and artisan shops. The slower rhythm makes Chefchaouen an enjoyable contrast to Morocco's larger imperial cities.
Spend time around Outa el Hammam Square and the kasbah area before enjoying lunch at your own pace. In the afternoon, you can continue exploring independently or walk toward the Spanish Mosque viewpoint overlooking the town.
Return to your accommodation for a second night in Chefchaouen.
Roman Morocco and Imperial Meknes
Enjoy breakfast in Chefchaouen before leaving the Rif Mountains and travelling south toward Volubilis.
Explore the archaeological remains of this ancient Roman city, where mosaics, columns, arches and the outlines of former homes remain visible across the countryside.
Continue to Meknes, the imperial city closely associated with Sultan Moulay Ismail. Discover monumental architecture and historic areas before continuing toward Fes.
Arrive in Fes later in the day and check into your traditional riad.
Discover Fes with a Local Guide
After breakfast, meet your local guide for an in-depth introduction to Fes, Morocco's historic cultural and spiritual center.
Begin with landmarks outside the old city, which can include the Royal Palace gates, the historic Mellah and a panoramic viewpoint over the medina.
Continue on foot into Fes el-Bali. Walk through the narrow lanes and souks while discovering historic madrasas, traditional workshops, artisan quarters and the surroundings of Al Quaraouiyine.
See the famous Chouara tanneries and learn more about crafts that have been practiced in the city for generations before returning to your riad.
Across the Middle Atlas to the Sahara
Leave Fes and travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane before continuing toward the cedar forest region around Azrou.
The journey continues through mountain landscapes toward Midelt, where you can stop for lunch. From here, travel through increasingly arid scenery and descend toward the palm-filled Ziz Valley.
Continue through Erfoud toward Merzouga, where the dunes of Erg Chebbi rise dramatically from the desert landscape.
In the late afternoon, meet your camel caravan and cross the dunes around sunset. If you prefer not to ride, a 4x4 transfer can be arranged instead.
Enjoy dinner, music and a night in your private Sahara camp.
Explore the Merzouga Desert Region
Wake early if you would like to watch the sunrise over Erg Chebbi, then enjoy breakfast before beginning a day dedicated to the wider Merzouga region.
Travel by 4x4 across desert tracks and discover landscapes beyond the main dunes. Depending on local conditions, visit nomadic families and learn about everyday life in this remote environment.
Continue to Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa musical traditions, where you can enjoy a local performance and learn more about the community's heritage.
The day can also include palm groves and seasonal desert landscapes before returning to Merzouga for your second night in the region.
From the Sahara to Morocco's Great Gorges
After breakfast, leave Merzouga and travel toward Rissani, a historic trading town in the Tafilalt region. When the traditional market is operating, you can explore its lively stalls and local atmosphere.
Continue through Erfoud and the palm landscapes of southern Morocco toward Tinghir and Todra Gorge.
Take a walk between the towering canyon walls where the Todra River has carved its way through the mountains, then continue toward Boumalne Dades.
The final stretch takes you into the Dades Valley, known for its kasbahs, dramatic rock formations and mountain scenery. Dinner and overnight in the valley.
Kasbahs, Ouarzazate and the High Atlas
After breakfast, continue through the Valley of Roses and the palm groves around Skoura toward Ouarzazate.
Travel onward to Aït Ben Haddou, the UNESCO-listed fortified village famous for its traditional earthen architecture and dramatic setting. Walk through the ksar and climb higher if you would like panoramic views across the valley.
In the afternoon, cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n'Tichka route. Stop along the way for mountain views and photographs before descending toward Marrakech.
Arrive at your Marrakech riad in the evening.
Explore Marrakech with a Local Guide
Meet your local guide after breakfast and begin discovering the historic heart of Marrakech.
Visit landmarks such as Bahia Palace and Ben Youssef Madrasa before exploring the narrow streets and colorful souks of the medina. See artisan workshops and experience the atmosphere around Jemaa el-Fna and the Koutoubia Mosque.
After lunch, you can continue exploring with your driver. If you wish to visit Majorelle Garden, advance reservations are recommended.
The rest of the day is free for shopping, relaxing at your riad or enjoying Marrakech at your own pace.
From Marrakech to the Atlantic Coast
After breakfast, leave Marrakech and travel west toward the Atlantic coast. Along the way, the landscape gradually changes from dry plains to the argan-growing region around Essaouira.
Arrive in Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, and enjoy the slower rhythm of this historic seaside town.
Explore the working fishing port, walk along the old ramparts and wander through the compact medina with its whitewashed buildings and blue details.
Essaouira is also known for seafood, galleries and its long Atlantic beach. The afternoon is yours to explore independently before spending the night near the medina.
Return to Casablanca
Enjoy breakfast in Essaouira before beginning the journey back toward Casablanca.
Your departure time will be coordinated with your flight or accommodation plans. Because the road journey from Essaouira to Casablanca takes several hours, a later international flight is preferable when flying out on the same day.
Your driver will drop you at Mohammed V International Airport or your Casablanca hotel, bringing your 12-day journey across Morocco to an end.
If your travel plans work better with a Marrakech departure, the final transfer can also be customized when arranging your tour.
